Bali Bird and Reptile Park

I went to the Bali Bird and Reptile Park yesterday. My favorite reptile, other than a snake, is a Komodo Dragon, which is basically a giant iguana. It lives on Komodo Island in Indonesia. How it hunts is it first bites its prey with poisonous fangs, like a snake, but the poison is in its saliva, not it's fangs. Then the dragon lets the prey go, and later catches it easily because it's been weakened by the poison.

I went to an area called the Iguana Garden. There was stone paths with grassy areas in between where the iguanas were loose. There were also crocodile exhibits buy they were not let loose! The zookeeper gave my mom an iguana to hold and then I got to hold it. It was heavy and warm.

At the beginning of our visit we were in the restaurant without even knowing there was a show going on. The show was about famous bird stars in the park. The birds they showed were really cool! There was a macaw, a hornbill and a cockatoo. People got to put the cockatoo on their head and I got to do this! Her name was AnnaMarie. It felt like stone claws moving around and clawing at my hair.

We saw a toucan in a cage, which is my favorite bird other than the Anhinga. (This is not our photo!)

There was a special house on stilts where peacocks lived underneath inside a bamboo cage. When you went up the stairs to the top of the house, you went into a dark, L-shaped corridor. There were owls on each side of you. The first two were medium-sized. The next owl was big and the last ones were tiny, itty-bitty owls. There was a family of three. They were so cute! (This is not our photo either)

It was a great day and if you come visit I'll take you there!

  1. Nice blog, Ihno. The Iguana looks like it's bigger than you!
